Made in Lancashire chocolate scoops prestigious international food award

20th April 2011

Set up in 2005 to promote the eating of fine chocolate, the Academy of Chocolate has the renowned chef and restaurateur Michael Roux OBE as its patron. The annual Academy of Chocolate awards are the most prestigious in the chocolate industry, attracting entries from chocolate makers and chocolatiers from all over the world.

The Chocolate Café from Ramsbottom has been awarded a silver medal for its ‘House Milk Chocolate Truffle’. A remarkable achievement given the business has only been trading for three years and its owner and head chocolatier Paul Morris has only been working with chocolate since 2008. The award winning truffles are made on site at the café and chocolate shop in Ramsbottom, Bury. The winning chocolate truffle comprise single origin chocolate from Indonesia, single origin cocoa powder form Tanzania and fresh local cream from Kenyon’s Dairy in Summerseat, Bury.

Says Paul “It is a great honour to be considered among some of the UK’s most respected chocolatiers and I am extremely proud of my staff and everything we have achieved here in Ramsbottom”.

The award marks an incredible first three years for Paul, his wife Emma & their young team, which has seen The Chocolate Café grow into a premium chocolate brand whose products are sold through retail outlets nationwide.

The Chocolate Café is situated in the small Lancashire mill town of Ramsbottom, whose spring chocolate festival and a year round chocolate trail attract over 50,000 people annually. You can learn more about The Chocolate Café at www.chocolate-cafe.co.uk or on twitter @welovechocolate
