Fairtrade boost for Chocolate Festival

2nd March 2011

National ethical cocoa giant Divine Chocolate has chosen the perfect time to sign up to the Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival 2011.

Its announcement comes during Fairtrade Fortnight (28 Feb to 13 March), and plans by local traders, schools, residents and the council to make Bury a Fairtrade borough this year.

Divine is the only Fairtrade chocolate company which is 45% owned by the farmers. David Greenwood-Haigh from Divine will be hosting three Chocolate Workshops at the festival, on both 16 and 17 April, and will be giving talks on cocoa producing.

Other cocoa leaders in the field signed up to the event include Duffy from Red Star, John Slattery, The Chocolate Café, Cacao & Co, Truly Chocolate, Choco-Lori, Choc Affair and many more. The festival gives people the opportunity to buy some of the most exquisite chocolate around, and even buy specialist chocolate for their dogs!

Kicking off the festival on Friday 15 April is the World’s Biggest Ever Chocolate Tasting, hosted by The Chocolate Café. With presentations from every cocoa producing country in the world, the interactive event will take place in real time via Twitter and Facebook where everyone can follow the tasting even if they can't make it to Ramsbottom. Tickets are available from The Chocolate Café - contact 01706 822 828 for more information
